Nightly Gale - "Erotica" (Self-release) promo-tape 1999

Ha, my old friends from Poland here, interviewed in Lykos #4, and here they are again. Two tracks only on this one, "Angelica Burns" and "Dark River of the heart" (spot the influences anyone?). A definite improvement on their previous release, this is rather good. Dark emotional music, as it doesn't totally fit into the doom metal stereotype. Very screamy vocals, and horror soundtrack like keyboards, coupled with slow guitars and a steady drum beat. Some MDB influenced vocal passages in the quieter sections, and some keyboards that actually stand up on their own and add atmosphere, rather than as a token gesture to help them get signed. Good stuff, I for one anxiously await the full length. - lykoszine
